It can be easy to map out what we’ll do this summer. For my family, we have beach trips, hiking, and afternoon dips in the pool all scheduled. We are making the most of this summer by being together and doing all the things. I am in the business of making memories for my kids but before that, I need to make a plan for me.

I’ll tell you right now, I could use some work in the patience department. That is a virtue I’m choosing to focus on this summer. I have my kids home with me all summer so I will have ample opportunity to practice patience. In addition to the pursuit of patience, I’m choosing grace for those around me. I so desperately want grace and I understand those around me crave it as well. So, Jesus, give me all the grace before I snap.

More than what you’ll do this summer, make a plan for the person you want to be. Do you want to be a woman of grace, generosity, and gentleness? When the opportunity arises, choose the way of peace over resentment, lavish love over selfishness, and kindness over shaming others for not acting the way you want. Each and every day we become something. Let’s become women of great substance, deep faith, and fierce love.

What about you? What virtues are you after during these summer months? Who are you becoming? There is only one you, I pray this summer you live the life you were created for. One full of grace, patience, peace, and joy.

Oh, and put on some sunscreen! Don’t burn that beautiful skin of yours!
