Dear Reader,
April 2019 was the first month I haven’t been writing a book or study or launching a book or study in two years, so I’ve been reading, relaxing, spring cleaning, and sipping (Sip and Savor). When I have time to think, to relax, to rest, and recharge I can’t help but be inspired. Be it good coffee, spring blossoms, a good book, a stimulating conversation, or a good show, I’m relishing my time.
A few of my favorites to share with you:
Book: God Has a Name by John Mark Comer
I listened to the audio book of this title and I can’t recommend it enough. It was convincing, challenging, and encouraging all at the same time. I highly recommend it.
Podcast: This Cultural MomentÂ
This podcast unpacks why things are the way they are in our post-christian world. Again, convicting and eye-opening. I have listened to every episode and you’ll want to pop in your earbuds and download this series.
Video: This fabulous woman talking about Chick fil A
This woman made my year. She is everything good in this world. I love her and her love for Chick-fil-A.
Music: Kind of Blue by Miles Davis
Nearly every night, Derek plays Kind of Blue while we eat dinner. Pour a glass of wine and exhale the craziness while you listen to this timeless album.
Show: Grand Designs on Netflix
Derek and I are raving fans of all things Britsh and this show is incredible. The host is not our favorite but the show’s premise is solid. Build a brand new building in straight laced, do-it-how-you’ve-always-done-it Britain. It’s a good one. We absolutely love it.
Book: An Altar in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor
I’m late to the party on this one but when all your favorite authors list this book as one of their favorites, you go ahead and read it. It has been a GIFT to me in this season. Finding God in the small things, the wild things, and everything in between is the sweetest way to live.
Recipe: Dijon and Champagne Vinegar Chicken Thighs
A shout-out to my assistant for serving me a version of this. We’ve made it again and again since it is heaven sent. Close your eyes and pretend you are in Paris. It’s DIVINE.
Music: Bible of Love by Snoop Dogg
This is one of those albums where there isn’t a song you would want to skip. Every song leads you to the throne room. Well done, Snoop.
Article: Can the Legacy of Trauma Be Passed Down the Generations from BBC
I’ve spent much of April researching trauma-informed parenting, attachment therapy, and compassion practices. The month of April is a major traumaversary for Jericho. Derek and I are committed to shepherding him in a way that leads to emotional, spiritual, relational, and mental healing.
Podcast: This hilarious and honest conversation about power and Meghan Markle from Why Tho Podcast
Ashley and I are fans of the duchess. We think she may be a 3 on the enneagram and she deserves all the support she can get with all those tabloids tearing her down. You’ll love this episode.
Show: Homecoming by Beyonce on Netflix
Must I say anything about this. It was just… wow.
Book: The Rise of the Truth Teller by Ashley Abercrombie (forthcoming Oct. 2019, pre-order available)
My girl has a book coming out in October and it is what you need. Ashley, my co-host of Why Tho and dear friend will release her book in October but do not wait until then like some slacker, go ahead and pre-order because you’ll be so glad you did.
Darling humans of the internet, I pray this May is beautiful, full of hope, goodness, healing, truth, and grace. May you not go a day this month without the truth: you are loved, you are smart, you are doing better than you think you are.
Peace,
Tiffany
