WHAT MAMA REALLY WANTS FOR MOTHERS DAY-2

She has laugh lines. She feels sassy when she’s in heels. She gives up sleeping in on Saturday mornings for cuddles by her rambunctious kids. They call herĀ “mama.” She does her best to keep it all together. It’s imperfect, it’s messy, and it’s just right. Tomorrow is her day. Let’s celebrate being HER and let’s bless HER. It’s time to give her a moment to breathe, make her waffles with strawberries and extra whip cream, and give her a fresh cup of coffee as she makes her way to the kitchen in mismatched slippers and hair in a top knot.

Forget diamonds and pearls. I’ll tell you what she really wants.

  1. Sleep. As much as she can possibly get.
  2. A looooong shower. Maybe even throw in some lavender shower bombs.
  3. Her car cleaned out. Even the french fries between the seats have to go at some point.
  4. A cutesy card from her kids. She’ll totally gush.
  5. Coffee. Just how she likes it.
  6. No chores. The dishes and laundry can be done by someone else or wait until Monday.
  7. Flowers. Be it succulents, roses from the back garden, or the grocery store variety, mama need some sweet smelling flowers.
  8. 30 minutes, or more, to herself. Give her a moment to simply BE. How she uses is up to her. Does she want to scroll through IG for a half hour or read the book she bought 2 months ago? Totally up to her. (I feel this is a great one for mamas of little ones. Time to yourself is presh.)

The aforementioned are great ideas for the special mama in your life.

For you, dear mama…

If you don’t have someoneĀ pampering you tomorrow I want to say, you are loved beyond measure. What you do day in and day out is beautiful. My heart goes out to you and I have the upmost respect for you.

As a mama, I stand among mamas both here in the developed world and with mamas in the developing world, some walking two hours to find fresh water for her babies. I stand with mamas in jail, mamas separated from her kids, and mamas parenting kids with disabilities and kids with troubled pasts. We stand together to make up women who are chosen to bear the next generation, pouring out our love to nurture our sweet arrows that we shoot into the future. Let us keep our vision clear to love, lavish grace, and offer forgiveness. Let us not grow weary in doing good.
